WILLIE LEE GAY H-TOWN CHAPTER

Our Objective

As a chapter of AAHGS, our primary task is to nurture the interest and collaboration of genealogical and family history research, with emphasis on people of African descent. The chapter further seeks to preserve the local history and cultural heritage of people of African descent in the state of Texas.

Through sharing data, attending educational workshops, sponsoring and/or co-sponsoring special events, and participating in local, regional and national conferences, our membership will obtain or reinforce the necessary skillset to document their research in multiple media format for future posterity.

The Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, Inc. (AAHGS) – Willie Lee Gay H-Town Chapter is a non-profit 501(c)3, which strives to preserve African-ancestored family history, genealogy, and cultural diversity by teaching research techniques and disseminating information throughout the community.

If you would like to support our continuing mission to foster the preservation of communities and places, and research of people with African American ancestry, we welcome you to donate to our chapter.
