(a.k.a.: Emancipation Day,” “Freedom Day,” “America’s Second Independence Day,” has spread in popularity exponentially. Speaker Bio:

Donald J. Norman-Cox is a native and lifelong Texan.  He was born and raised primarily in Houston, but also lived in Marshall, Beaumont and Galveston. He holds degrees in music, student services and counseling, but his professional career was in juvenile justice and emergency management. Upon “retirement”, Cox seized the title public historian, one who interprets history for the general public. Making Black history mind-blowing for the antiquity dispassionate is what he’s been doing for nearly fifty years.”

Cox also conducts discussions and presentations for organizations, churches, schools, libraries, businesses and families.  He claims his most memorable experiences are discussions with people who’ve celebrated Juneteenth throughout their entire life but never bothered to check the source of their information.
