AAHGS Hampton Roads Chapter Monthly Meeting with Johnette Gordon-Weaver (hybrid)

About this event

The Hampton Roads Afro-American Genealogical and Historical Society (AAHGS-HR) will hold its monthly meeting on Saturday, November 9th at 10am.

This meeting will feature Johnette Gordon-Weaver, who has the distinction of being the first African American to be inducted into the Williamsburg chapter of The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR). She's a Hampton Institute alum and a retired Account Executive who worked in recruitment and advertising for Bernard Schenk and Associates for 20 years.

During the time in which the country was shut down due to the pandemic, her focus on family research led to the discovery of an entire line of previously unknown relatives using DNA analysis and was the beginning of her journey to becoming a DAR.

Please join us as Johnette Gordon-Weaver presents ‘The Journey to Finding Myself’.

We will meet at the Fort Monroe Visitor & Education Center Room located at 30 Ingalls Rd on the Fort Monroe campus in Hampton, Virginia.  The meeting room opens at 9:45 AM ET, and the meeting will begin at 10 AM. There is parking in front and behind the building. Handicap access is through the rear entrance. Take the elevator to the 2nd floor and proceed to the Theater Room.
